Family of Rob Jerrard

1983 February - 2018 August

Rob Jerrard has two sisters and one brother. He was the middle one and was mostly close to his sister Val who now lives in Australia. Val in turn is the mother of three daughters, and one of Val's daughters -herself now the mother of a daughter, the little family residing in London. This niece always liked her uncle Rob and she stayed in regular touch.

On hearing the sad news of Rob's death this niece, her young daughter and her husband  accompanied her and they travelled by train to Budleigh Salterton to spend three days with Rosemary errard, Rob's widow-they stayed in a nearby hotel, and returning on 20th August for Rob's funeral service and cremation. They did not want to burden her at this time. I have known Rosemary as long as I have known Rob Jerrard and big-hearted, nicer people you could not meet. Those who proclaim that this country is full of racism must look to the United Kingdom's police forces, where diversity thrives and ninety-nine percent of police officers have a big kind heart. They are first and foremost Peace Officers, we must never forget.

At such times one wonders about the fairness of it all.  Organised corporate criminals often hone their cunning to never get caught and offend against our society "in plain sight". The more wicked they become, the more brazenly they behave...

Rob Jerrard loved socialising; loved the people in his community, as almost all police officers do.

When we had stormy weather for any length of time, I would worry about Rob and Rosemary and email, hoping they weren't flooded or so and he would assure me they were both fine and send me photos of local birds he had seen. There are not many men so pure in heart. R.I.P. mentor and friend.
